About Us

A group of like minded citizens that meet monthly to provide assistance to those in need. We meet once a month, usually the first Wednesday of the month with the summer months off. Next scheduled meeting is the first Wednesday in October.

The '885 Civic Club of Antioch Illinois' was created in the late 60's and is 11-501 General Nonprofit organization registered with the State of Illinois. The originators were the Masons from Sequoit A.M. & F.M. Masonic Lodge # 827 who found a need to create a way to raise the yearly taxes needed to keep the Masonic Lodge open. During the early years help was needed to raise some of the saw mills and other civic projects.

Many became members and helped with a large picnic located at the Jim and Jane Larson home in the summer for Handicapped and physically challenged children. The Sally Potter School and Wauconda High School students, Staff were able to take a field trip to let loose and enjoy the day. The Masons, Eastern Star, 885 Civic Club and all this possible at the Larson residence for many years until the picnic grew to large. The children and staff enjoyed BBQ, face painting, the Madina Indians, Antioch Police and Fire Departments also participated with showing the kids a great time.

Windy City Amusements became the venu back in 1977, creating the Mother's day weekend event making 2017 to be the 40th anniversary with the 885 Civic Club as the required sponsor for the carnival.

Today the 885 Civic Club makes donations to Open Arms Mission, Pads, Open Arms Mission Thanksgiving and Christmas meals and toys,  U.S.O. and to Antioch Youth Sports. We also assist when possible with sponsoring events for Sequoit Masonic Lodge # 827 thru the year. 885 Civic Club also continues to given Scholarships to both Antioch and Lakes High School students, the amount being determined by how the Mother's day Carnival does. We also are members of the Antioch Chamber of Commerce, support the Antioch Police Cadets, Antioch Fire Fighters Assn, Antioch Traveling Closet and much more.
